West, Robert R. Robert R. West, 89, of Gilbert, AZ passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2017 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on December 8th, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland. Bob served in the Army shortly after World War II. His parents were Robert West and Caroline Knoedler. Bob and his wife Joan were married in Baltimore, Maryland in 1950 and raised 5 children before retiring to Gilbert, AZ in 1988. Bob was a very active volunteer at the Gilbert Museum for twenty years and was Vice President for two years. Bob spent many days renovating the Museum to what it is today. Some of his projects included landscaping the outside courtyard, helping build the Ramada, renovation of the basement and many classrooms. He also volunteered on many occasions helping out on the float for the Gilbert days' parade. Bob also volunteered at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Gilbert working at many of the Fiesta Days picnics. Bob loved spending time talking with people and loved to tell everyone his numerous stories. He enjoyed Golfing, Tennis and just working on any job that needed to be done. He loved working with his hands and repairing anything that needed to be fixed. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children at the beach or lake. Bob is survived by his sister Eileen Young his brothers Bill and Wesley West, his wife Joan West and their five children, Robert West, Sharon Garreau, Steven West, James West and Alice Lafferty, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Bob was laid to rest at the Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Mesa, AZ. On March 28th, 2017. Condolences can be made at www.qohcfh.org.
