Robert "Bob" Stutte passed away on February 3, 2012 at the Juneau Pioneers' Home. He was 90 years old. Bob was born on November 19, 1921 in Portland, Oregon to Walter and Hazel Stutte.Bob joined the Navy during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific with the Construction Brigade. He married his childhood sweetheart, Marcella, on October 21, 1944. In 1947 the couple moved to Juneau to join Bob's father in the construction trade. They had a young son, Robert Jr., at the time. The couple had a daughter, Kaysa, in 1951. Except for a few sporadic years when they moved away for work, Bob and Marcella have lived in Juneau since 1947. In his early years in Juneau Bob served on Juneau's city council, was a volunteer firefighter and a member of the search and rescue council. In later years, Bob went to work for the Alaska Dept. of Transportation, Div. of Buildings and retired from the State in the early 80's. Bob loved Southeast Alaska and in particular loved the time he spent "up the river" with his good friend Bill Cope who passed in 1975 . In 1968 the family purchased a house out North Douglas and lived there until both Bob and Marcella moved into Juneau Pioneers Home in 2010. Bob loved the staff at the Pioneer Home for their caring support and humor.Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marcella; son Bob (Darlene) from Portland, Oregon and their children Nicole, Alyssa and Lucas as well as a daughter, Kaysa, of Juneau and her two children Kelsey and Leyla. There are 4 great grandchildren.There will be no memorial service per Bob's wishes. Cards of condolence can be sent to Marcella Stutte, 4675 Glacier Highway and contributions in memory of Bob can be made to the Juneau Pioneer Home Foundation at the same address.
