Robert Thomas Tobin, 71, of El Centro, CA passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2010. He was born on December 24, 1938 in New Underwood, South Dakota. Bob grew up in the Midwest where he liked to farm and the outdoor life. He moved to Del Dios, CA in 1955 and then to El Centro in 1956 where he graduated from Central Union High School in 1957. He played Spartan basketball and enjoyed his fast cars, motorcycles and a good conversation. He then attended IVC where he took courses in drafting and played football. He joined the Army in 1963 and served until 1965. After his Honorable Discharge, he returned to El Centro and worked for Valley Nitrogen for many years. He worked briefly for Kellog Company in Algiers, Algeria, returning to the U.S. in 1985 where he then worked for Ormat Nevada, Inc. from 1985 until his death. Bob loved his work and the Ormat family. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and brother, always being there for anyone that needed anything. Bob is preceded in death by his parents; Margaret Josephine and Cecil John Tobin; and grandson Brian Hudson. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Ralph Ruiz; daughters, Charlene Amator and Katherine Hilton; son, Danny Dugger; grandchildren, John Speer, Cody Burch, Brent Amator, and Holly Wrobel; brothers and sister-in-law, Mike and Carol Tobin, Dave and Kris Tobin, Paul and Wilma Tobin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bev and Don Solem, Mary and Chuck Pridgeon, Theresa and Jose Espinoza; and sisters, Pat Ciani, Joanne Tobin, and Helen Tobin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church in El Centro at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 23 with burial services at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido, CA on Wednesday, November 24 at 11 a.m.
