Robert H. ThompsonYorkRobert H. Thompson, 86, died Sunday, September 25, 2016, at his home. He was the husband of Jacqueline (Wilson) Thompson, to whom he was married for 64 years.A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016, at St. John's UCC Church, 161 N. Main St., Red Lion, with his pastor, the Rev. David D. Tietje, officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.Mr. Thompson was born on June 27, 1930, in York and was a son of the late Arthur H. and Nora (Frederick) Thompson.He graduated from Valley Forge, Mercersburg College and Thompson Business School of York and served eight years in the National Guard. He operated his family business, T.E. Brooks and Company, manufacturing cigars in Red Lion and York for many years and was part owner of Suzuki Village Motorcycle Co. in York.Robert was a loyal member of St. John's UCC Church and lifetime member of the York County Agricultural Society and a member of the Country Club of York, the VAA, and the Williams Grove Old Timers Association.He was an avid skier and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends including the Friday Afternoon Lunch Group, the Gear Grinders Group in Red Lion and loved cars, music and his little dog, Tiffany.Besides his wife, he also leaves a daughter, Patricia A. Dow and her husband James of York; a son, Robert H. "Bobby" Thompson II and Lilia Thompson of Sandy, Utah; three grandchildren, Crystal Miller-LeCates and husband Byron Jr., Rebecca A. Cox and her husband, Starell, and Bobby Thompson III. He was predeceased by three brothers, Ed, Fred and Harry Thompson.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's UCC Church, 161 N.
