Mr. Robert V. BanachAGE: 83 • BrickRobert V. Banach, 83, of Brick passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Mr. Banach retired as a Captain in the Kearny Fire Department after 26years of service. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1952 to 1955.He was born on April 5th, 1933 in Jersey City and was raised in Kearny. Mr. Banach was a 1951 graduate of Kearny High School where he was an avid baseball and soccer player. In 2012, Robert was inducted into the Kearny High School Athletic Hall of Fame.He and his wife, Helene, lived in Manasquan from 1973 to 1995, before moving to Brick 22 years ago. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Banach enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending quality time with his family.Mr. Banach was predeceased by his parents, John Banach and Anna Jasones Banach Davidson; and by his daughter, Deborah Lynn Magee. Surviving is his loving wife of 64 years, Helene (Nadrowski) Banach; daughter, Barbara Petroski and her husband, Robert of Effort, PA; son-in-law, John Magee of Vineland; 6 grandchildren, Robert & Laurie Magee, Matthew Magee, Lauren & Jeff Smith, Derrick & Heather Magee, Adam Petroski and Courtney Magee; as well as 4 great grandchildren, Riley Lynn, Bryce Robert, River Robert, and Ace Timothy.He was a member of the FMBA local 18, Kearny Exempt Fireman's Association, New Jersey State Police and Fireman's Association Ocean County Local 8, a Life Member of the Manasquan Elks #2534, Romeos Association, The American Legion Post #2048 and the Old Guard of the Great Point Pleasant Visiting will be on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 3-7pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 5050 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at St. Martha's RC Church, Point Pleasant. Entombment will follow at St. Catharine's Cemetery, Sea Girt.
