Robert Vohlken, 84 JACKSON, Mich. - Robert (Bob) Vohlken, passed away under the loving care of his family and staff at the Allegiance Hospice Home on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the age of 84 years after a brave battle with cancer. He was born on August 18, 1930 in Freeport Illinois, the son of George and Viola Vohlken. He attended Freeport Public Schools, graduating in 1948. He went on to obtain a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked in the Aerospace Industry for 42 years, retiring from Aeroquip in 1992. Robert's interests were dancing, hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding as well as following college sports. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's athletic activities and musical performances. He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey of 64 years; his daughter, Cheryl (Brad) Schuldt of Kalamazoo; son, Curtis (Mary Jo) Vohlken of Parma; and daughter, Teresa (Paul) Kokales of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Cara, Krista, Jacob and Rachel (children of Curtis), Alec, Melina and Sophie (children of Teresa); and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Arlene (Don) Snap of Loves Park IL; and Margaret (Don) Smith of Redwood City, CA.; and many nieces and nephews. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. Family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at Sandstone Congregational Church. A memorial celebration will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan 3 at Sandstone Congregational Church located at 250 S. Sandstone Road, Jackson, MI 49201.
