Robert W. WinsorRobert W. Winsor, 85, of Wilmington, DE, died peacefully at home of liver cancer with Lucy, his loving wife of 63 years, and family by his side. He was born on August 10, 1931 to George and Anne Winsor, Chelsea, MA.He attended St. Rose of Lima Grammar School, Chelsea, MA; Malden Catholic High School, Malden, MA, and Tufts College, Medford, MA graduating Cum Laude with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1953.Bob was a U.S. Naval Officer on the USS Jeffers(DMS-27). He then worked for the E.I.DuPont Company: Repauno Works 1955-1956; Pompton Lakes Works 1956-1964; Wilmington Office 1964-1969; Repauno Works 1969-1972; Wilmington Office 1972 - 1985. Then he retired and the fun began! Bob and Lucy loved being together tackling any challenge!Bob was a Life Member of the Brandywiners Chorale, a member since 1988. He was also active in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church as a member of the Choir, a Lector, worked on the census and the Clean Team for the Church.Every year summers were spent at the cottage in Chincoteague, VA.Bob was predeceased by his grandson John Winsor of Austin, TX, in March 2016.Bob is survived by his wife Lucy; his four children: Mark Winsor (Anne), Robert Winsor (Angela), Lucy Knappenberger (Robert) and Elizabeth Stewart; his grandchildren: Mary Quarles (Blake), Gwen Bennett (Travis), Tyler Winsor, Laura and Emily Knappenberger and Rachel Stewart; his great granddaughters: Kendall Stewart; Mia and Annabelle Bennett. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday March 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803 where friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Burial immediately following at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery, Greenville, DE. .
