Robert Wieland, 87Robert Dwayne Wieland, 87, of Lone Tree, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at Pioneer Park in Lone Tree. A Celebrate of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at the Lone Tree American Legion Post 457. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery at a later date. Following the service at the Legion, military rites will be held outside the Legion. Following the military service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Legion. Visitation for Dwayne will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be directed to the Lone Tree Fire and Rescue in memory of Dwayne. www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Robert Dwayne Wieland was born on September 21, 1929, in Washington, Iowa the son of Ralph I. and Emily M. (Skala) Wieland. Dwayne graduated from Lone Tree High School. On November 18, 1950, Dwayne was united in marriage to Majorie N. Gentzler in Iowa City. Dwayne proudly served in the United States Army during the
Korean War from 1950 - 1952, attaining the rank of Corporal. Dwayne was the assistant manager of Eclipse Lumber Yard from 1949 - 1959, then a carpenter from 1959 - 1995. He was a member of the Lone Tree American Legion and past member of the Lone Tree Fire Department. In his early years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing and in his later years he enjoyed working in his shop, going to the casinos and traveling, but most of all, Dwayne dearly loved to spend time with his family. Dwayne will be missed by his wife, Marjorie Wieland of Lone Tree; three sons, Richard (Glennda) Wieland of Lone Tree, Michael (Martha) Wieland of Lone Tree and Steve (LuAnn) Wieland of Brooklyn, Iowa; six grandchildren, Leah Bell, Lindsey Wieland, Jonathan Wieland, Brandon Wieland, Molly Hotka and Amy Gayton; 10 great grandchildren, Skyler Meyer, Brandon Meyer, Ashley Meyer, Reid Wieland, Henry Wieland, Jadeyn Hotka, Elliett Wieland, Harper Wieland, Josey Hotka, Sophie Gayton; and one brother, Gerald Wieland of Riverside.Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Doug Wieland and one sister, Donna Petru.
