Robert E. "Bob" Wiley Sr.Port HuronRobert E. "Bob" Wiley Sr., age 85, of Port Huron, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2016 at Marwood Manor Nursing Home.He was born on March 6, 1931 in Detroit and attended Redford High School. Having a passion and talent for baseball, Bob became a star pitcher. For two years, he attended Williams College in Massachusetts and also participated in ROTC. He transferred to Wayne State University and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry.Bob served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War then the Air Force Reserves for many years. Eventually retiring with the rank of Major.In 1969, he and his family moved from Detroit to the city of Port Huron. He worked at Acheson Colloid as a research chemist. After retirement, he pursued many interests in research chemistry with multiple patents. He was a long-time member of the St. Paul Episcopal Church and was also a member of the Lions Club.He will be sadly missed, but remembered by family, many friends and his loving caretakers.Bob is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ruth Mary, his sons, Bob, Rick and their families and sister-in-law's Rose, Renee, Sally and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marion, brother-in-law, Richard and nephew, Brent.A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Grace Episcopal Church, Port Huron.
