Ladies and gentlemen, family and friends,
We gather here today to celebrate and honor the life of a remarkable man, Roberto (Bob) Guerrero Jr., who left us at the age of 79 on August 24, 2024, after bravely battling cancer. His journey began on a warm afternoon in Mexico, when he entered this world at 4:10 PM, weighing a healthy 8 pounds and 8 ounces. From the very beginning, Robert was destined to make an impact on those around him.
Baptized on April 6, 1945, in Monterrey, Robert was raised in a family steeped in love and tradition. His early adventures began with a memorable bus ride to Laredo, Texas, on April 15, 1945—a journey that would ultimately set the stage for the beautiful life he would build. Robert graduated from Martin High School in Laredo in 1963, a proud moment that marked the beginning of his commitment to serve his country.
After completing his education, Robert was drafted into the U.S. Navy, where he courageously served in Vietnam. Those experiences shaped him, instilling in him values of resilience, loyalty, and strength. Upon returning home safely, he found his true love, Gloria, with whom he would share his life’s journey. Their love story is one of deep connection and unwavering support—a bond that would withstand the tests of time.
Robert’s career at AT&T was a testament to his dedication and hard work. He devoted many years to the company, earning the respect of his colleagues and making lifelong friends along the way. His professional achievements were matched only by the joy of being a father to his beloved daughter, Sandra. Together, Robert and Gloria created a nurturing environment filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
Robert was a devoted family man, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roberto and Maria Guerrero, who instilled in him the values of family and community. He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, and his daughter, Sandra, who carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. Robert is also survived by his three sisters, Bertha, Hortencia, Elsa, and his brothers, Rolando and Rosendo. Together, they form a close-knit family that reflects his spirit and the bonds he cherished throughout his life.
As we remember Robert today, let us celebrate the man who loved fiercely, who served honorably, and who brought light to the lives of those around him. His laughter, wisdom, and warmth will forever resonate in our hearts. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us as we move forward, carrying his memory with us always.
Rest in peace, dear Robert. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
