McIver, Roderick Donald "Don" Don McIver, 83 years old, passed away on October 22, 2017. Don is survived by his wife, Faye McIver; his sister, Molly Villemez; his children, Mark (Stacy), Grant, Hawley (Kelly), Bren, & Alex; 11 grandchildren & 6 great-grandchildren. Don was born on September 17, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Claude S. McIver & Idalia Frances Capps McIver. After graduating high school, he joined the Air Force, then got his bachelor's degree from the
University of Texas in 1960. Don went to work for General Electric/Honeywell and after a long, accomplished career in computer programming management, including overseas assignments, he went to work for Maricopa County Community College District and taught computer programming until he retired. Throughout his life he loved the outdoors, and enjoyed camping, hiking, white water rafting, mountain rescue, and geology/rock collecting. He also greatly enjoyed classical music and the symphony, and travel for work and pleasure. He dabbled in amateur theater acting, and had recently taken writing classes and won several honors with his work. Don was a beloved friend of dogs and his favorites were Belle, Bexar, Daisy, Tilly & Teddy. He was a member of the Arizona Mountaineering Club, and the Central Arizona Mountain Rescue, and supported the ACLU and its defense of our 1st amendment, and the NRA, PBS, the Arizona Humane Society, and the Sierra Club.
