RODNEY L. KNIGHT, 76 LENA - Rodney L. Knight, 76, of Lena, IL, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Lena Living Center. He was born on July 4, 1937, in Savanna, IL, the son of Ira C. and Susie I. (Bloom) Knight. Rodney married Joyce V. Schumaker on April 4, 1985, in Mt. Carroll, IL. He was employed at Modern Plating in Freeport for 26 years, and retired in 2000. Before that he worked as a farmer in Lena and then Stover's MFG in Freeport for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, avid wrestling fan, and collector of many things. Rodney is survived by his wife, Joyce of Lena; a daughter, Sharon (Gary) Schwartz of Lena; 3 sons, Michael (friend, Michelle Manske) Knight, Robert (Deb) Knight, and Ronald (friend, Beth Clemmons) Knight, all of Freeport; a son, Edward Buss; 7 grandchildren, Brandon, Josh, Kristan, Kimberly, Sandy, Robbie, and Nicole; 6 great-grandchildren, Trenton, Addison, Kalyea, Mason, Mackenzie and Drake; 4 sisters, Harriet O'Neill of Freeport, Lurean Campbell of Freeport, Delores (Clarence) Neuschwander of Lena, and Margery Hooper of Rockford; a brother, Bernard (Mary) Knight of Lanark, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ira Knight Jr.; 2 sisters, Darlene Drye and Evelyn Zonzolia. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013, at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena. Pastor Brian Lebaron will officiate.
