Dr. Rodolfo Carlos Valdivia, 91 years young, was called to his place beside our Lord God on the evening of December 29th, 2016. He was born on June 17th, 1925 in El Paso, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Refugio and Esperanza Marie Cortinas Valdivia, and his sister, Josefina Nena Valdivia Aguirre. He is survived by his brother, Armando Guillermo Valdivia(Lillian), his son, Armando Rodolfo San Roman(Celia), his daughter, Dr. Eliza San Roman, grandchildren; Diane San Roman (Vergie), Carlos Rodolfo San Roman (Catherine), Amanda Michelle San Roman (Charles), Luke Matthew San Roman, great- grandchildren; Tony San Roman, Victor San Roman, Jose Lopez, Frisco Lopez, Rodolfo Lopez and Martin Lopez, his nieces and nephews; Armand Valdivia (Manuela), Paul Valdivia (Dina), Denise Ramos (David) and Hope Lopez (Rudy). After his graduation from El Paso High School, He joined the United States Army Services. He served in the Medical Corps in WWII. Following his Honorable Discharge, he obtained his Bachelor of Science from Texas Western College. Upon completion of his university education, he was accepted to Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri, where he attained his Medical Degree. He completed his internship in St. Louis, Missouri. He returned to El Paso where he remained in private practice for 46 years until his retirement. Dr. Valdivia was a reservist in the United States Air Force Services. He served as President, Treasurer and Secretary of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association. He was a member of the American Osteopathic Association and received the Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award. He also received Distinguished Patron Lifetime award. He was a member of St. Patrick Cathedral Parish and the Rotary Club. He gave generously to multiple foundations, charitable and religious organizations. Dr. Rodolfo Carlos Valdivia was the Patriarch of his family. He was a gentleman of exceptional integrity, responding to challenges with faith of God, patience and humbleness. He was completely devoted to his beloved family and he touched and guided their lives with his wisdom, kindness and commitment. Dr. Valdivia's life was God's blessing and an inspiration to his family and all those who encountered him. Dr. Valdivia's family gives thanks to Drs. Griffith, Belbel, Annabi, Hajj, Demick, Armendariz and the Las Palmas ICU Nursing Staff for their care. Pallbearers will be: Armando Rodolfo San Roman, Carlos Rodolfo San Roman, Luke Matthew San Roman, Armand Valdivia, Paul Valdivia, Ryan Valdivia. Honorary Pallbearer will be his loving brother Armando Guillermo Valdivia. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Holy Rosary at 7:00pm on at Sunset Funeral Home-West. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 1:30pm at St. Patrick Cathedral Catholic Church, 1118 North Mesa. Interment will follow at Evergreen Alameda Cemetery, 4301 Alameda.
