This obituary is administered by:
Roger O. Carlyle Roger Otis Carlyle, 80 years old, was born on May 26, 1936 in Sunnyside, WA. He passed away on April 29, 2017 at his Puyallup home, surrounded by his family. Roger fought a short and courageous battle with cancer. After graduating from high school he joined the Air Force for 20 years before retiring. His Air Force career was spent in the medical field, including lab tech, radiology, and nuclear medicine. He continued his education throughout his life, and enjoyed particularly the fields of electronics and botany. After retirement he worked for another 18 years in hospitals in Montana and Washington in the Nuclear Medicine field. He was Director of Nuclear Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup in the mid 1980's. Roger married Darlene Johnson at the same time he joined the Air Force. They were blessed with 5 children. His travels in the Air Force took him to England, Taiwan, Texas, and Montana. After his wife's death he settled back in Washington State, where he met and married Eileen McKeag and they settled in Puyallup, WA. Roger led a happy and full life. He was a genuinely loving man, with a smile and laugh that warmed all of our hearts. He had a multitude of interests and talents, including community volunteering, wood carving, traveling, cooking, hunting, fishing, gardening, rock hunting, and playing cards and games with family and friends. He played the piano occasionally, in fact the last couple months of his life he could be found late at night polishing his rendition of the Maple Leaf Rag. He and his wife, Eileen, spent the last 6 winters in Mesa, AZ, enjoying the sunshine, new friends and activities. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, and his siblings Madeline Pearce, Jack, and Gene Carlyle. He is survived by his wife, Eileen, of 7 years, his 5 children, Mike Carlyle, Jerry Carlyle, Larry Carlyle, Lori Carlyle, and Tammie Carlyle-Chin. His children also included step-children Colleen Johnson, Scott McKeag, and Ed McKeag. Roger was blessed with 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held on May 11th at 1:00 p.m. at Hill Funeral Home, 217 E. Pioneer in Puyallup. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Foundation, Cancer Resource Center, 401 15th Ave. S. E. Puyallup, WA 98371.
