Kasner, Roger D.Roger D. Kasner, 81, Stratford, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Mount View Care Center in Wausau. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 19, 2019 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Town of McMillan, Marathon County, where the family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 10:00 am until service time. Rev. Douglas Westenberg will officiate. Military rites will be conducted at the church following the service by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Roger was born on May 23, 1936 in Milwaukee, to Emil and Dorothy (Van Pieterson) Kasner. His father later married Alice Schlegelmilch. After graduating from high school Roger served in the United States Marine Corps from October 1955 until his honorable discharge March of 1958. He then served in the Air National Guard. He married Joyce P. Pember on October 20, 1958 in the Town of Richfield. She died on January 17, 1988. He later married Linda (Stroetz) Widmann on August 15, 1992 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, McMillan. Roger had been employed at GTE for 30 years until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed wood working, crafting beautiful furniture, camping, fishing, cooking on the grill and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Linda and his daughters, Rhonda (Jeff) Olson and Lisa Kasner (Ted) and stepsons, Chad Widmann and Joel (Sara) Widmann. He is also survived by grandchildren, Nicole Kasner (Tracy), Amber Ricci (Kyle) and Ryan Ricci (Chelsea), and step-grandchildren, Jason (Jenny) Betancur, David (Summer) Betancur, Michael (Samantha) Betancur, Logan Widmann, Alexis Widmann, Cooper Widmann and Josie Widmann and 7 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters, Joann Ruedinger, Sharon (Dave) Pavlacky, Violet Seeman and Glenda Joch, sisters-in-law, Theda Kasner and Barb Kasner, his mother-in-law, Berdeen Stroetz, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dennis (Kris) Stroetz, son-in-law, Dale Bredemann and a daughter-in-law, Julie Kasner. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, a daughter, Ranee Bredemann, a son Kenneth and brothers Gerald and Carl.
