ALBION — Roger R. Stoneburner, 85, of Albion died on Monday, August 24, 2015, at Parkview Noble Hospital. He was born on Feb. 17, 1930, in Tocsin, Indiana, to the late Miles and Nellie (Hall) Stoneburner. He was a 1947 graduate of Ossian High School and a U.S.
Army veteran, serving during the
Korean Conflict. On Sept. 12, 1954, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Albion, he married Shirley Brown. Roger retired from Dana Corp as plant superintendent following 40 years of dedicated service. He was a 61-year member of Albion American Legion Post 246, the South Shore Golf Course in Syracuse, and enjoyed his grandchildren, playing cards, and reading. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Shirley Stoneburner of Albion; a son, Ryan (Erika) Stoneburner of Fort Wayne, and a daughter, Sally (Don 'Duber') Merriman of Albion. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Madelein, Casandra, and Stephany Stoneburner, and Miles, Alice, and Nyla Merriman; great grandchildren, Max, Nathan, and Brendan Chandler; and a sister, Wanda Munk. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Mark Munk. Funeral service is at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Brazzell Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial is at Sparta Cemetery, Kimmell.
