BURLINGTON - Roland Rollie D. Bauman, age 86, passed away Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Waterford Senior Living Center. Rollie was born on July 3, 1926 in Burlington, to the late John and Martha (nee Hoffman) Bauman. He had been a lifetime resident of Burlington and a graduate of Burlington High School. Rollie proudly served in the United States
Army from 1945 until 1946. On February 25, 1950 Rollie was united in marriage to Betty Jean Riek. Rollie had worked as a foreman for Brass Works and was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church. He was a member of the American Legion, the
VFW, the Town of Burlington Fire Department and the WIAA. For many years Rollie coached Little League as well as umpiring and was honored in the Burlington Little League Hall of Fame. He also coached girls softball and was a referee for basketball. He received the Humanitarian Award from the Burlington
Rotary Club and in June of 2003 received The LeRoy Clark Meritorious Service Award to Little League Baseball. The practice facility at the Maryland Field is named after Rollie. Along with his accomplishments, he received a Lifetime Firefighter Achievement Award from the State of Wisconsin. Rollies hobbies included playing cards, riding his bike and running. Survivors include his loving wife, Betty, their children; Georgianna (Jim) Schuch of Burlington, Gregory (Kathy Bandstra) Bauman of Racine, Charles (Pamela) Bauman of Sammamish, WA, Tracy (Gregory) Pioppi of Easton, PA, John (Kimberly) Bauman of Barneveld and Todd (Gaye) Bauman of Burlington, grandchildren; Markus Schuch, Brett Bauman, Nicola (Ira) Hill, Joseph Pioppi, Alexia Pioppi, Kassandra Bauman and Zachary Bauman, great-grandchildren; Hayden and Isabella Schuch, and by a sister, Shirley Meinke of Twin Lakes. Rollie is further survived by sisters-in-law, Rose, Myrtle and Gloria Bauman, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 infant brothers, brothers; Frank, Robert, Phil and Eugene, brother-in-law, William Meinke and sisters-in-law; Florence and Mary. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 7:00 PM at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 198 Westridge Ave., Burlington, with Rev. Kirk Lahmann officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the CHURCH on Friday, from 2:00 PM until 6:30 PM. Burial will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
