Roland “Booger” Mayfield, age 85, of Warrior,Alabama, passed away on August 26, 2021.
Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Mayfield; son, Patrick Mayfield, Grandson Joshua Mayfield, Father, William “Big Tom” Mayfield, Mother, Nola Mayfield, siblings, Olan Mayfield, Bryan Mayfield, Emily Godfrey, Clara Roberts, Odel Mayfield, Curtis Mayfield and Joe Mayfield. He is survived by his son, David Mayfield; grandchildren, Jason Mayfield and Brittany Mayfield; great-grandchildren: Lilah, Lane, Grace, and Jacob, Sisters Ann Vaughn, Maureen Carnrick, Brother Charles Mayfield and enough Nieces, Nephews and their progeny to fill out a couple of NFL rosters, love y'all, but I am not typing all that.
There are no plans for a memorial service, those of us left will gather together many times and tell tales of his "exploits" and no doubt will embellish and outright lie about them, that is exactly what he did and he deserves no less.
There is no need for flowers, if you want to do something in his memory, consider giving something to a Christian charity, or to Dementia/Alzheimer’s research. Maybe just sit on the porch with a glass of tea or cup of coffee and listen to Jones or Haggard, find some little kid and pester them to no end, pet a dog, watch the birds maybe say a prayer for the nekid pygmies in Africa, just whatever silly thought runs through your mind would bring a smile to Dad's face.
For those who think this is an inappropriate way to announce to the world that Roland has stepped into eternity I assume you did not know him, as this is the most appropriately inappropriate way to announce it, if you are offended still, well, you have a Coke and a smile.
