Rolland "Ron" E. VarnerNASHPORT: Rolland "Ron" E. Varner, 74 of Nashport died at 2:21pm Thursday, August 28, 2014 at the Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center following complications during surgery.He was born on December 6, 1939 in Gratiot, Ohio the son of Forrest Lloyd and Martha F. (Loughman) Varner."Ron" was a member of Norval Park Church of Christ and graduated from Hopewell High School in 1958 and served in the
Army National Guard from 1963 to 1969 obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He started his employment in the Auto Parts Department with his Morrison Studebaker, and then with Morrison Motor Company, which became Morrison Pontiac Cadillac, then Kane Pontiac, then Hoffer Buick Cadillac and most recently was employed with Auto Zone. His interest was with cars and guns. Ron is survived by his wife of over 48 years, Janet E. (Franks) Varner whom he married November 28, 1965; his two daughters Sharon (Jeffrey) Oxley of South Zanesville and Tammy (Matt Schooley) Miller of Nashport; seven grandchildren Alisha Swingle, Heather Bollinger, Justin Oxley, Austin Miller, Taylor Miller, Vince Cottrell, and Angel Cottrell; six great grandchildren and one on the way. He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by a daughter Ronda Cottrell; a great granddaughter Miley Oxley and a sister Roma "Christine" Smart.Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8pm Sunday, August 31, 2014 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home and also one hour prior to service. Funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Tuesday, September 02, 2014 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home with Minister Keith Kress officiating. Burial will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Military Rd.The Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Zanesville is in charge of the arrangements.
