Rolland B. Loomis, 84, of Montrose, passed away peacefully after an extended illness, on May 30, 2014, at the Meadow View Senior Living Center, Montrose. He was predeceased by his wife, Marion (Crosby) Loomis.He was born on January 25, 1930 in Sayre, to the late Irving Nelson and Anna Grow (Lott) Loomis. Surviving are his three sons and significant others, Rolland B. Loomis, Jr. and Roy DeBise, Tucson, Ariz., Jerald and Lori Loomis, Montrose, Timothy and Kristine Loomis, Montrose; daughter, Deborah Loomis and Todd Smith, Montrose; eight grandchildren, Jerald Jr. (Michele) Loomis, Brooke, Kyle, and Zachary Loomis, Justin and Anna Loomis, Morgan and Colby Major; five great grandchildren, Kaylyn, Ashton, Jerrin, Kathleen and Jaylyn; sister-in-law, Jean Loomis, Montrose; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brother, Irving Loomis.Rolland was a member of the Masonic Warren Lodge, Lions Club, American Society of Highway Engineers, APC,
VFW, American Legion, American Concrete Pipe Assoc., and various hunting associations. He was an avid hunter who traveled the world to hunt in expeditions to Mongolia, Siberia, Alaska and South Africa. He enjoyed golfing, traveling with his wife, going on cruises and cross country trips, ice fishing and spending time at the family cabin. He was a partner in the operation of Irving N. Loomis & Sons who constructed highway and manufactured concrete pipe. The company built 100's of miles of highway and millions of feet of concrete pipe. His favorite saying was "Merry Christmas!"A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at the Montrose United Methodist Church, with Rolland B. Loomis, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Montrose Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be sent to Endless Mountains Health Systems, Montrose, PA 18801; or the United Methodist Church of Montrose, PA 18801.
