May 9, 1931-Oct. 22, 2016Mrs. Roma Ferne Nobles Bennett, age 85, of Flowery Branch passed away on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton.Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at 1-3:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home with a service to follow in Memorial Park Chapel. Mrs. Bennett will lie in state from 3:30-4 p.m. in the chapel. A private graveside interment will be held after the chapel service. Dr. Jerry Gill, the Rev. Don Ormsbee and Mr. Lauren Nobles will officiate.Mrs. Bennett was born on May 9, 1931, in Brunswick, Ga., to the late John "Clark" Nobles and Ned Naomi Harper Nobles. She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. In 1953, Mrs. Bennett started working at the Old Gainesville Mill (Milliken). Ferne worked as a plant nurse for Milliken Mill and a community nurse for the Gainesville Mill Village. In 1976, she left the mill to work for Hall County Health Department; she spent 12 years as lead nurse for children's medical services. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marion A. Bennett; and sisters, Barbara Loraine Nobles Turner and Jacklyn Nobles.She is survived by her brother, James Nobles of Nichols, Ga.; brother, Lauren Nobles of St. Simons, Ga,; son, John Franklin Bennett "Butch" of Gainesville; son, Brett Andre Bennett of Cartersville; son, Bart Alan Bennett of Lawrenceville; daughter, Dana Marie Bennett Truluck of Pensacola, Fla.; son, Brian Aric Bennett of Flowery Branch; daughter, Jacklyn Elizabeth Bennett Baxter of Flowery Branch; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.Memorial Park Funeral Home, GainesvilleSend online condolences to www.memorialparkfuneralhomes.com.
