NEW PARK Romaine M. Hash, 88, died on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at York Hospital. She was the wife of James G. "Bill" Hash, who passed away on March 20, 1973. A daughter of the late Traverse Lafayette and Bertha (Ross) McBride, Mrs. Hash was born on April 8, 1926, in Street, Md. Mrs. Hash had spent much of her childhood years in Sparta, N.C., moving back to the area in the early 1940s and then to New Park, where she and her late husband opened the former New Park Service Station in 1948. Together, they operated the full service filling station and used car lot. In 1960, Hash Bus Company was added, providing transportation to school students. Mrs. Hash retired in 2011 at the age of 82 years. A longtime member of Centre Presbyterian Church, she had faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Hash was a well-known Baltimore Orioles baseball fan as well as NASCAR. Family was everything to her and was known to love her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren unconditionally. She always enjoyed taking road trips and loved listening and singing to mountain music from her childhood. She was also often found chronicling and telling stories of her childhood memories. She is survived by four children, David Hash of Red Lion, Tama Hash and her companion, Charles Potter, of New Park, Kari McElwain and her husband, Adam of New Park, Beth Hash and her husband, William D. Marsteller of Delta; a sister, Elaine Thompson of Bel Air, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her children, Judith D. Lindsey and J. Grayson Hash; and grandchildren, Kenneth Hash and Kelly Lynn Hickey. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Centre Presbyterian Church, 83 New Park Road, New Park, PA 17352. Her pastor, the Rev. James L. Biller, will officiate, with interment in the adjoining church cemetery. The Hash Family will receive guests following the interment in the church social hall.
