Roman Green RACINE Roman Green, 96, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care All Saints. Roman was born on December 7, 1917 in Chandlersville, Kentucky to the late Enoch and Margret (nee: Salyer) Green. He grew up in Kentucky, enlisting in the United States Army Air Corp on June 6, 1941 serving his country during World War II until his discharge on December 24, 1945. Roman moved to Racine to work at J.I Case Company in 1947. Upon making Racine his home he met his future wife, Mary E. Williamson the love of his life and was wed at the Racine City Hall on October 15, 1949. He had been employed with J.I. Case Company for nine years, later working for McGraw Edison for twenty-five years, retiring in 1982. Roman enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid golfer well into his retirement years. He was a member of the Johnson Park Tuesday Morning Golf League where he earned his first place trophy for his age group of 85-99 in 2002. Roman proudly continued his love for golf until the age of 92. Roman is survived by his children, Lisa (Charles) Arndt and Randal Green all of Racine; nieces, Marilyn, Carole and Donna. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Roman was a loving father, good husband and dear friend and will be deeply missed. Roman was preceded in death by his wife, Mary on May 2, 2012; son, Gary M. Green on January 27, 1998; brothers, Elva, Estel, Otto, Trimble, Johnie, Jimmie, Elmer and Bill; sisters, Nola Stambaugh, Mima Gambill, Luda Davis, Laura Daniel, Frona Spenser and Alice Branham. Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10 am until service time. Roman will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park with full military honors.
