We gather here today to remember the illustrious life of Romeo Hermeos, a man who left this world far too soon. Romeo's journey began on June 30, 1993, and tragically ended on August 8, 2023, when he fell off the freeway. If only he had paid as much attention to road signs as he did to love triangles, perhaps he would still be here with us today.
For anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Romeo, they knew him as a man of questionable judgement and a knack for making life more complicated than it needed to be. From his tumultuous relationships to his questionable career choices, Romeo had an uncanny ability to complicate even the simplest of matters.
Deeply affected by the loss are Romeo's parents, Alfred and Gloria Hermeos (née Butcher), who undoubtedly did their best to instill a sense of rationality in their son. Sadly, it seems that Romeo inherited his mother's maiden name and his father's love for tow trucks - a career path that made absolutely no sense to anyone who knew him.
Throughout his short life, Romeo managed to squeeze in some educational pursuits. He studied at Sacred Heart High School, where he graduated in 2011. It is rumored that his sophomore year was dominated by his participation in a Shakespearean drama club, which only fueled his obsession with tragic love stories. After high school, he continued his studies at Georgian College, where he probably expanded his repertoire of poor life choices.
However, Romeo's greatest accomplishment was undoubtedly becoming a father to his son, Julio Hermeos. While it remains uncertain whether Romeo's parenting skills were impressive or just as chaotic as every other aspect of his life, we can only hope that Julio will manage to navigate the world with better judgment than his dear departed father.
As we say our final goodbyes to Romeo Hermeos, let us remember him for what he truly was: a cautionary tale of poor decision-making and lack of direction. May he find more peace in the afterlife than he did on this mortal coil.
