Ronald BurnsJune 23, 1945 - Dec. 10, 2016ELKHART - Ronald W. Burns, 71, of Elkhart, died Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Elkhart Hospice House. Ronald was born on June 23, 1945, in Elkhart, to Billy H. and Joanne M. (Butler) Burns. On September 21, 1969, he married Illuminada “Lumie” Pullido at Subic Bay, the Philippines. She survives. Ronald is also survived by a daughter, Margaret Burns, Elkhart; son, Mark Burns, Atlanta, GA; sisters, Jennie Ott, South Bend, Beki (Lyle) Dohse, Cassopolis, MI; brothers, Billy Burns, Jr. (Patrice), Elkhart, and Rev. Dr. Michael (Sharon) Burns, Dodge City, KS. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Monique Burns in 1997.Ronald graduated from Green Township High School in South Bend, IN. Following graduation, Ronald proudly served in the United States Navy. He was an avid fisherman and master block maker. Ronald was employed with Yoder Ready-Mix, Fidler, Inc., then Aggregate Ind. until retirement. He also worked part-time at Lowe's. Ron was also a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.Friends may call from 4 pm until 8 pm Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Friends may also call one hour prior to services at 10 am Friday, December 16, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
