Ronald EdmondsonConcord, NCRonald W. Edmondson, 70, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 with his loving family at his side. Ron was born on January 15, 1947 in Knoxville, TN and was the son of the late James C. Edmondson and Louise Boruff. He graduated from Gibbs High School and National Business College before enlisting in the
United States Coast Guard in which he served his country proudly for 4 years. During this time he met his wife, Colleen Clark of Brooklyn, NY while stationed in NY on Governor's Island. They shared 47 years of marriage building a life of love and strength and faith in the Lord. After raising their family in Brooklyn and Queens, NY they retired to Concord, NC. Ron worked as a Secret Service Agent, Security Sergeant at the United Nations and retired as a Security Sergeant at
New York University. He loved taking apart and reassembling cars and computers. Photography with all types of cameras kept him busy. And he always enjoyed visiting the gun range with his daughters. He was always rated a sharp-shooter. He was ill for 21 years and fought the good fight. Finally, at 62 he retired. He passed from COPD and congestive heart failure. Such was the nature of the man that it took two diseases to bring about his demise. Thankfully, all due to the prayers of many, he was accepted into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, 2 days before his passing. God is good. The family wishes to thank the many doctors, both here and in New York, who kept him well for so long, especially Dr. Thomas Batchelor in Huntersville and Dr. Joseph Mishkin in Charlotte. And finally they would be remiss if they did not thank the wonderful medical providers and caregivers from the Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region for their superlative, compassionate care. God bless you all. He is survived by his loving wife, Colleen Clark Edmondson, four daughters and sons-in-law and six grandchildren. They are Shannon Carbone (Jeffrey) of Cornelius, Maureen Conaty (Patrick) of Concord, Colleen Mongan (John) of West Babylon, NY and Meaghan McDonnell (Wayne) of Concord. His adored grandchildren are Kevin Conaty, Ciara Carbone, Nieve Conaty, Declan Carbone, Caitlin McDonnell and Liam McDonnell; two sisters Linda Tindell and Joyce McElyea of Knoxville, TN. His greatest joy was seeing his family gathered about him, laughing, teasing and enjoying each other. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Ron on Monday, October 30, 2017, at 1:00 PM, at St Mark's Catholic Church, 14740 Stumptown Road, Huntersville, NC.
