Ronald L. OwenReddingRonald L. (Ron) Owen, devoted husband, beloved father, cherished grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on January 25, 2017. He was 76 years old. Ron was born on September 10, 1940, in Gustine, California, and spent his childhood in Napa, California. There, he met his wife Melanie and they married in 1961. He attended the School of Pharmacy at University of California, San Francisco and began his successful career as a Pharmacist. Ron served the communities of Long Beach, CA, Monterey, CA, and worked locally at Mercy Mt. Shasta; Mercy Redding; and Northern California Rehabilitation Hospital (Vibra). He retired in 2011.Ron enjoyed numerous interests: woodworking, golf, travel, crossword puzzles, bird watching, and wine tasting with his close friends. He was a master at working with his hands, and found creative solutions to everyday problems. Most of all, Ron was devoted to his family, and adored time spent with his grandchildren, Cara (Nick), Jake, Sophia and Nolan.Ron is survived by his wife Melanie Owen, daughters Suzanne Cogburn (Larry) of Redding; Jane Alt (Roger) of San Rafael; his sister Linda Plews (Fred) of Lincoln City, OR; his brother-in-law Ken Cox of Corvallis, OR; and his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Judith Cox of Corvallis, OR, and his parents Lee and Lucille Owen of Napa, CA.Ron was patient, funny and supportive, and described by his friends as a "good and kind man." He was deeply loved by his family, and will be missed. A celebration of Ron's life will be held at a later date.
