Dr. Ronald Francis McVeyChelsea - Dr. Ronald Francis McVey, 81, of Chelsea, New York passed away peacefully at home July 28, 2017.Ronald was born on May 26, 1936 in Manhattan, New York to Clarence and Elizabeth (Monahan) McVey. He graduated from Fordham University with a B.S. in 1958, an M.S. in Guidance and Counseling in 1969, and a Ph.D. in Counseling and Education in 1971. Dr. McVey was employed by John Jay College of Criminal Justice for 36 years. He was a Counseling Professor and Dean of Students. Additionally, he was a consultant for various law enforcement agencies in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut to include the FBI, NYPD, and Port Authority PD. Ron helped many individuals in crisis as a consultant and also worked as a therapist at Coping East in Dutchess County, New York. On July 2, 1965, he married Rosemarie Temme in Manhattan. Ronald is survived by his wife, Rosemarie, of 51 years: three daughters, Karen McVey, Erika (Robert) Fuller, and Samantha (Joseph) Schwall; two grandchildren, Alexandra and Elizabeth Fuller; and his sister Gail Ryan.Ronald was a selfless man who helped many and was devoted to his family and friends. He enjoyed humor, reading, creative writing, and had 'many good thoughts'. Spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends were most important. In death, Ronald continues to help others as he is an anatomical gift to Albany Medical College.A celebration of life with family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 26 from 4-7 pm at the Chelsea Yacht Club, Chelsea, New York. Memorial donations may be made in Dr. McVey's memory to Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation
