ALBERTSON - Ronda J. "Olinger" Murphy, 41, of Albertson, and formerly of Rensselear Falls, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, Dec. 30, 2011. A celebration of her life shall be held at the St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Kinston, at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Jan. 4, 2012. The service is open to all that wish to come. She was born on Nov. 15, 1970 in Ogdensburg, N.Y., daughter of Ronald J. Olinger and Leona J. Olinger Graves. Ronda graduated from Hugh C. Williams High School Canton in 1988, and later from SUNY Canton with an Associate's Degree and finally from SUNY Potsdam where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. Following her formal education, she attended a school for the Blind in Boston to assist her in dealing with her vision problems caused by her lifelong struggle with diabetes. Ronda leaves behind a loving husband, Jason Murphy of Albertson, NC; two step-children, Derrick and Dillon; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Lloyd Grandy of Waddington, N.Y.; a half-brother, Ronald "Bo" Scott of Carrolltown, Texas; three nephews, Addison Grandy of Waddington, N.Y., Bentley Murphy of Albertson and Jordon of Carrolltown, Texas; three nieces, Olivia and Phebe Grandy of Waddington, N.Y. and Courtney Scott of Carrolltown, Texas; a step-father, Edmond Graves of Waddington, N.Y.; a maternal grandmother, Dorothy White of Madrid, N.Y.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and her always devoted and ever present companion, Shar. Ronda was predeceased by her brother, George H. Olinger; her father, Ronald J. Olinger; and her mother, Leona J. Graves. Ronda enjoyed her time with her animals and family. She was a devoted mother, aunt and friend, who gave tirelessly of her time and energy. Despite numerous medical issues that robbed her sight and required daily medication, she never seemed to let anything get in her way. Whether volunteering time at church, planting her garden, tending to her animals or spending time with her family and friends, everything received the same amazing focus and energy that made her the person who so many of us love and will miss dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations to either St. Mary's Episcopal Church at 800 Rountree St., Kinston, NC or the , 1701 N Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 2231 be made in Ronda's memory.
