Roosevelt Brown was born in Tucker, Arkansas on April 9, 1939, to his late parents James Brown and Juanita Walker Brown. He was the eldest of 8 children. Roosevelt 's family relocated to Pixley California in the early 1950's and eventually settled in Fresno California.
Roosevelt graduated from Washington Union High School in Fresno California. He completed one year of college and studied Liberal Arts. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1961 and served 2 years as a Military Policeman. He received an Honorable Discharge, Good Conduct Medal, and Marksmanship Award.
After completing his military service, Roosevelt relocated to Berkeley California and worked as a Warehouseman. Shortly thereafter, he began his postal career as a City Carrier at Rockridge Station in Oakland California where he settled. He was promoted to Foreman of Mail at the Oakland P&DC on May 15, 1970. Roosevelt was apart of the activation team for the San Francisco Bulk Mail Center and was promoted to General Supervisor Mails Tour 1. He was an avid bowler and was a member of the Postal Service Bowling and Baseball Team. Roosevelt continued to enjoy a successful postal career spanning more than 40 years.
Roosevelt accepted Christ as his Lord and Saviour and was baptized at Paradise Baptist Church in Oakland California. This was a very special day because his late brother, Deacon Otis Brown was present to assist with the baptism. Family and friends were in attendance.
Roosevelt was loved and admired by many friends and family. He departed his earthly life on May 14, 2018, at the age of 79. Roosevelt Brown leaves to cherish his memory his wife Debra D Brown Vallejo CA, his daughters Valda Brown McCray (Tony) Missouri City TX, Sybrena Michelle Brown Louis (Warren) ElkGrove CA, Denisha Rose Brown (Carlton) Vallejo CA, son Robert Brown Vallejo CA, stepson Willie Roy Stanley III Oakland CA, sister Erma Dixon (Willie) Ponoma CA, brother Henry Brown Fresno CA, Earl Walker Fresno CA, Samuel Ward (Letitia) Hayward CA along with 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, amd friends who will miss him dearly.
Roosevelt is preceded in death by his parents James Brown and Juanita Walker, brothers Otis Brown and Ernest Walker, sister Carrie Ellis and grandson Jason McCray.
