LA GRANGE - Rosalind Kathleen Whaley, of La Grange, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 22, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Emitte and Brownie Whaley. Survivors include her husband, Leon Whaley of the home; two sons, Mickey Whaley and wife Mary, of Kinston, Doug Whaley and wife Shannon, of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Crews Whaley, Malachi Whaley, Douglas "Little Doug" Whaley Jr., and Camden Whaley; two sisters, Rhodia Kornegay and husband Rank, of Kenansville, Emilee Bailey of Kinston; mother-in-Law Dorothy Whaley of Kinston; special niece and caregiver, Jennifer Skinner; numerous nieces and nephews and many other special family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving and caring person that enjoyed working with her flowers in the garden, bowling, and drag racing and was the owner of "Mickey's Beach Bingo." She was loved by all and will be missed by many. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her four grandsons. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2013, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home and other times at the home. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., following the visitation with the Rev. Chris Turner officiating. Interment will be at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
