Rosalind “Rosie” Nystrom, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away suddenly on March 19, 2024, in Winchester. She was born on January 2, 1959, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Harold and Emma Clever.

Rosie's passion for animals and compassionate nature led her to pursue a career in veterinary science. She attended Virginia Tech, where she honed her skills and knowledge in caring for animals. Throughout her life, she worked tirelessly as a vet, touching the lives of countless furry friends and their grateful owners.

In 1985, Rosie married the love of her life, Boston “Sky” Jason Nystrom. Their union was one of unwavering love and support, lasting 38 beautiful years until Rosie's untimely passing. Rosie and Sky built a life together filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever be held close to the hearts of those who knew them.

An active member of the Presbyterian Church of Winchester, Rosie found solace and strength in her faith. She dedicated herself to serving her community and spreading kindness wherever she went. Her warm smile and gentle spirit touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Rosie's love for animals knew no bounds. Over the years, she welcomed and cared for 15 dogs, 21 cats, 32 fish, and 6 birds, all of whom held a special place in her heart. Her unwavering devotion to her furry companions reflected the depth of her kind and loving soul.

Rosie was preceded in death by her father, brother Johnny Clever of Georgia, and sister Dorothy Pottie of Kentucky. She is survived by her loving mother, her devoted husband Sky, her children Julia (Jerry), Kelly (Ryan), and Weston (Katie), her cherished grandchildren Jay and Carole Gibson, Myelle Schneider, and Lisa and George Nystrom, and her additional nieces and nephews.

In the wake of Rosie's passing, we remember her as a beacon of love, compassion, and strength. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Rosie's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched, both human and animal alike.

A celebration of Rosie's life will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Winchester, where friends and family can gather to honor her memory and share stories of the remarkable woman she was. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the local animal shelter in Rosie's name, a cause dear to her heart.

Preston and Sons Funeral Home of Winchester is Serving the Nystrom Family. Funeral Director Julie Preston is handling arrangements.
