Rosario "Chayo" Valenzuela, 57, of El Centro, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 following a brief illness in San Diego, CA. Rosario was born on March 3, 1957 in Mexicali, MX. She went to school to become a cosmetologist and worked as a hair dresser in the Valley. Her love of baking led her to become a cake decorator for her family and friends where she met various people throughout the Valley. Eventually she became known as the "cake lady". The love of cake decorating led her to work at Boatwright's Bakery on Main Street in El Centro. Afterwards she took her talents to the bakery at Costco as a cake decorator. Later due to her condition, she put her big smile to use and became a greeter. She worked for Costco for a total of 17 1/2 years. Rosario was a strong kind, caring, hard working person. Her doors were always open to anyone in need. She is preceded in death by her parents Romon and Florencia Valenzuela; and her dog, Mia. She is survived by her children, Raymond Bindiola Jr. and wife, Evelyn of Houston, TX, Ruben Bindiola and Sonia Bindiola both of El Centro, CA; her grandchildren, Iselia Bindiola, Raymond Bindiola III, and Luis Rivera; her siblings, Maria Valenzuela, Angela Garcia, Roman "Junie" Valenzuela, Irene Borges, Enrique "Ricky" Valenzuela, Margarita "Chonges" Castanon and Andy Valenzuela; and various nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe in El Centro with rosary at 7 p.m. Service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe in El Centro, with Father Mark Edney officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
