A life full of adventures and happiness

Rose Maxson, 70, of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, passed on May 06, 1985. Rose was born on October 02, 1914.

Life came with adventures and happiness for Rose Maxson. Everyone who lives on earth will eventually die. Yet we must make an effort to live a life that will be remembered. Rose Maxson, an African American woman well-known in her community for looking after children, saw a need in her community and was known for mentoring young women. She passed away from natural causes in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, yesterday evening, May 6, 1985. At the time, she was 71 years old. Cory Maxson, Raynell Maxson, and Lyons, her stepson, and stepdaughter and only son, are her only surviving children who took care of her until she finally gave her last breath. They were right by her side until she couldn't take it anymore and said her last words to her children. She rests in peace knowing she did everything she could for her community and children. Rose Maxson was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on October 2, 1914. She was raised mainly by her mother since her father was not there because he had other children by other women. Rose's mother had additional kids with various men, but she raised all of them by herself, which led to Rose being raised by her mother all the time. Rosw, later on,n met Troy Maxson, and when he lashed out at her and told her, I don't want to marry you, I just want to be your man," that made Rose say to him that if he wasn't the marrying kind, then move out of the way so the marrying kind could find me. This led for Troy to be at her feet begging for her to marry him, which led for them to be living in an outhouse where the wind was really strong in the winter time. They had been married for 18 years and had a son named Cory. Rose Maxson was a dedicated housewife who lived for her husband, her child, and her husband's children. She was committed to always pleasing her husband and her kids, even when Tory was aggressive with them; she always found a way to find Troy's way to make her children happy. Troy Maxson's wife is the most wonderful wife anyone could ask for. She loved everyone and managed to keep her family together. She respected her spouse despite his aggressive actions. Rose was always committed to the fact that on Fridays it was payday, which meant that she knew what to do with Troy's money. After all, in 1957, during their 18th year of marriage, Troy and Bono had a conversation, and Troy didn't know how to tell his wife, but he told her anyway because he loved her, that he got another lady named Alberta pregnant, which led to a heated argument between them. He made Rose feel like she was only a part of his commitments by revealing how Alberta made him feel, which made Rose feel betrayed because she had placed her entire life, her dreams, and her hopes in him. Whereas Troy stabbed Rose in the back, making her feel betrayed, because she made him feel like he had an obligation to her and no liberty, whereas Alberta made him feel that he had no obligations, no commitments, and also felt free. Troy's affair caused Rose's love for him to fade; though she was still married to him, she no longer cared for and loved him in the same ways that she had in the past, leaving her with simply the burden of being a wife. A year later, Troy and Alberta received their daughter, but Alberta passed away during delivery. When Troy brought the infant to his house, he asked Rose if she could take care of him, which made Rose lose respect for Troy and Cory lose respect for his father for dismembering his mother. Since Rose was a loving mother and didn't decline the baby, she accepted it, called her Raynell, and told Troy I'd take care of her only because she was innocent of the sins he had committed. After a significant setback in her marriage, Rose committed her life to attend church, serving God, and giving her time to caring for the community by taking all the cake to the church for the bake sale and always helping out the church by raising money for them. After Troy's death in 1965, his family had a funeral for him. Cory got suspended from the US Marine Corps for some days to attend his father's funeral; Lyons, Troy's oldest son from another marriage, got some hours released from jail to attend his father's funeral; and his brother Gabriel got released from the hospital for some days to attend his father's funeral. Everyone in Pittsburgh changed after Troy's death. Rose was dedicating her and Raynell's time to helping the church out by giving and raising money for children that don't have money or can't afford to have clothes on their backs and food in their stomachs. She planned more bake sales to raise money for the children and for Raynell to attend The holidays came by around Rose, Raynell, and Cory, and Lyons had a dinner for the time that Cory could stay since he had to fly around the world for the Marines. During the time that he stayed he played games, and Cory showed Raynell how to play baseball like her father used to and also taught her some football in case she found an interest in what his brother liked to play. There were always times that Rose saw them having a good time and always seeing them happy, which made her feel all accomplished in life. As a dedicated woman, she always knew what was right and wrong with her children. This led for her and Cory to have a serious talk since Cory had already spent 15 years in the US Marine Corps. Rose gave Cory the talk about when he's going to have a family because she wants to meet her grandkids someday before she's too old to even go out with them or buy them something. Cory told his mother that one day, I'll make you the promise, though, and I'll take care of Raynell if something happens, and I will one day have a family of my own. When the day came that Rose died on May 6, 1985, the last words that Cory remembers from his mother were, "Don't forget what you promised and take care of Raynell when you can, okay?" I love you guys both, and don't forget if you ever need me; just look up at those beautiful skies.
