Rose Anna "Rosie" AbelSalisbury-Rose Anna "Rosie" Abel, 91, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Salisbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family.Rosie was born on June 1, 1925 to the late Robert Alexander McCoy and Rose Anna McCoy in Morton, PA. She worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad during WII. She was a devoted wife and mother who encouraged and supported her children as den mother for the boy scouts, volunteer for the girl scouts, and leading by example as an active member of St. Francis de Sales Church guild.She became a librarian for the Wicomico County Public Library in Salisbury, Maryland and was an avid reader. She was a fabulous cook, cherished family gatherings and especially time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her little dog Katie and a good cup of coffee. Her Irish wit and a twinkle in her eye warmed the hearts of everyone who met her. She leaves behind a daughter, Sherri-Lynn Shakley and husband, Richard Dale Shakley; a son, Robert Frank Abel and wife, Victoria Taylor Abel; a granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Fanning and husband, Patrick Troy Fanning; a grandson, Ryan Dale Shakley and wife, Lynsey Shakley; three great grandchildren, Dylan Ryan Shakley, Olivia Lynn Shakley and Christian Troy Fanning.Also left to cherish her memory are several nieces, nephews and her many friends at Pine Bluff Village and Salisbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Frank Mathew Abel and two brothers, Robert Alexander McCoy, II and George William McCoy.A funeral service will be held Friday, May 19, 2017 at 1:30 pm at Holloway Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
