Rose Marie Garofolo FierickAGE: 74 • Bluffton, SCRose Marie Garofolo Fierick, age 74, of Bluffton, SC and formerly of Newfield, NJ died Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at home.Rose was born on October 14, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late Eva and Dominic Garofolo. At a young age, Rose and her family moved to a small farm in Franklin Township, NJ where Rose attended the local schools and graduated from Clayton High School.Rose and John married in 1962 and moved to Newfield, NJ where Rose became active in girls softball, the Newfield Jayceettes and Newfield Women of Today. She was an active parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she served as a regular greeter.In 2007, Rose and John retired to Sun City in Bluffton, SC where Rose became a very involved member of the production staff of Sun City Community Theatre, where she oversaw and assisted with microphone assignment and maintenance, as well an occasional on stage appearance in supporting roles. Rose also enjoyed playing cards, mahjong, luncheons, and regular stops at Starbucks!The last 15 years of her life, Rose spent traveling the country visiting the loves of her life…her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.Rose was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Pike and her sister-in-law, Kathryn Garofolo. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, John Fierick; daughters, Rosemarie Mayo (David) and Joanne Hughes (Mike); son, John Fierick, Jr. (Sheri); brothers, Carmine Garofolo (Joan), Dominic Garofolo (Mary), Joseph Garofolo (Joyce), and Paul Garofolo (Dolores); sister, Antoinette (Toni) Brown (Ralph); grandchildren, Jennifer, Melissa, Erik, Wayne, Amanda, Danielle, Zachary, Matthew, Hannah, John Fierick III, and Lily; and great-grandchildren, Darrien, Maya, Penelope, Troy, Mallory, and Delaney.A funeral service will take place at 10:30 am, Friday, August 4, 2017 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd, Bluffton, SC.A memorial mass with be held at 12 noon, Saturday, August 12, 2017 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Catawba Avenue in Newfield, NJ.In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Sun City Community Theatre or St. Gregory Catholic Church in Bluffton, SC.
