RACINE - Rose Marie Harris, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 22, after a brief illness while on vacation in Wakefield, Michigan. Rose was born on March 8, 1916 in Anvil in Michigan's Upper Penninsula the daughter of Frank and Anna (Verbonac) Stempihar, who emigrated from Yugoslavi. She married Richard Harris in 1935. Since moving to Racine in 1991, she frequently visited her family in Michigan and California, Rose enjoyed reading, playing cards, trips to a casino and watching her great-grandchildren in school activities and sports. A close family friend Mark Legue was always there to help Rose with her travel plans. Her survivors include her son, Robert (Diane) Harris and daughter, Norma Swee both of Racine; grandchildren Robert (Jeanne) O'Brien, Kimberly (Scott) Molbeck. Steffanie Harris all of Racine and Bryon (Tonya) Swee of Camarillo, CA, Paula (James) Fowler of Eagle River, AL, Suzanne Harris of San Francisco and Scott (Tonya) O'Brien of Guam. She has 15 great-grandchildren and three great great- grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Survivors include her sister, Ann Bonello, sister-in-law, Eileen Stempihar and brohter-in-law, Clyde Harris of Wakefield, MI; sister-in-law, Mary Heinz of South Haven, MI, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Henry and Aileen Walters of Wauwatosa, Wisc. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, on July 15, 1983 and her brothers, Matthew, John and Frank and brother-in-law, Mike Bonello. Funeral Services were on Monday, September 16 with Rev. Joy J. Adimakkeel of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church officiating. Rite of committal and burial was at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer, Mich.
