Sortino, Rose 98, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016 in Mesa. Rose was born on December 11, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Catherine LaRosa. She grew up in Forest Park, Illinois. Rose was married to Thomas Sortino and Rose was very active in her children's school at St. Bernardines and Forest Park Little League. In 1977 she moved to Mesa, Arizona where she was involved in many volunteer activities with the homeless and the AIDS Foundation. Rose worked at Hohokam Park, during Chicago Cubs Spring Training. She was honored by the Arizona Cardinals and her church for volunteer activities. Rose lived to see the Chicago Cubs win the World Series. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Thomas Sortino and brothers John and Salvatore LaRosa. Rose is survived by her children: Marianette (Jerry) Dennhardt, Joseph (Dianne) Sortino and Thomas (Cindy) Sortino; grandchildren: Sean, Nicole and Daniele and great granddaughter Amarra. She will surely be missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 8:00-11:00 a.m. with Rosary recited at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Funeral Home, 1562 E. Baseline Rd., Mesa, AZ. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 16, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 2654 E. Williams Field Rd., Gilbert, AZ. Interment will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to 1510 E.
