Rose Damon Ward, 79, of Salisbury, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, in Rockwell. She was the loving wife of Reuben Kump Ward. Rose was born on Dec. 11, 1936, to Peter and Mary (Shaffron) Damon in Elkhorn, W. Va. She graduated from business school with a degree in secretarial studies. Rose studied and excelled in Tole Painting, a form of folk art, and taught for many years. Her work was featured at numerous exhibits. She was a devout Christian and served through varying capacities within the church. The only lie she ever told was to get her young son and daughter to go to the dentist. She was a member of Shiloh Reformed Church of Faith and a member of the Salisbury Women's Club. Besides loving to paint, Rose played tennis, and loved water-skiing, boating and swimming with her family at their weekend lake property. In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Cole. Rose is survived by her husband, Reuben Ward; son, Peter (Teresa) Ward of Salisbury; daughter, Emily (Jim) Gordon of Winchester, Va.; sister, Joyce Bellay of Charleston, W. Va.; and three grandchildren, Noah Ward, Kristin and Katie Gordon. Visitation and Service: A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 12-1 p.m., at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m., conducted by Pastor Richard Myers, in the chapel of the funeral home.
