Roy Eugene Bruner passed away peacefully at his home on September 12, 2017. He was born on April 20, 1932 to Maxey and Dorothy Bruner in Longview, Texas. He was blessed to have been baptized on Easter Sunday in 1942. Roy graduated from Longview High School in 1949 and went on to graduate from the
University of Texas at Austin with his Bachelors in Finance in August 1954. He served in the US Army from December 1954 to December 1956. After his military service, he became a Federal Bank Examiner and married his sweetheart Patricia Ann Moore in December in 1957. In January 1962, Roy and Pat moved the family to Las Cruces, NM where he began his 33 year career at the First National Bank of Dona Ana County. Roy helped start the South Valley Volunteer Fire Department and became one of the Assistant Fire Chiefs and was actively involved for over 15 years. He was a deacon for the First Baptist Church for many years and loved visiting with all the people before and after church. He taught Principles of Banking for many years and enjoyed helping others with their banking careers. Pat and Roy enjoyed square dancing and travelled to Fun Valley Colorado for many years. They both danced at state and national conventions and were the New Mexico State Square Dance Association Presidents in 1976. He loved travel trailer camping, trout fishing and spending time with friends and family.Roy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Bruner, his daughter Pam Bruner Vendsel of Bedford, Texas, son Andrew and wife Marty Bruner of Cedar Park, Texas, his daughter Penni and husband John
Smith of Bedford, Texas. Grandchildren, Brett Pinholster, Courtney Stevens, Melanie Rose, Katie Bruner, Whitney Smith, and Sara Strickland. His brother Maxey Wayne and wife Peggy Bruner, his sister Elaine Jones all of Longview, Texas, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be at First Baptist Church Euless.
