Mr. Roy Edward "Pete" Collins, Sr, 68, of Lake City, Florida, died Wednesday afternoon, July 2, 2014 at UF Shands in Gainesville, Florida. Mr. Collins was born on February 12, 1946 in Coalwood, West Virginia. He was a 30 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He served in Vietnam, and later served 20 years as a crew member of Air Force One, serving under six presidents, rising to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. After his retirement from the Air Force in 1994, he moved to Lake City where he became a food service director for various state prisons. He retired in 2011. He was a member of Victory Assembly of God, where he served on the board and in many other capacities. Mr. Collins is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Pat, and two sons, Roy "Pete" Jr. (Cindy), and David. He was a beloved grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, at Victory Assembly of God, Lake City, FL.
