Roy Lee Hutchison Sr., 70, of Parkville, Maryland, passed on July 14, 2023. Roy was born on October, 11th, 1952 in Baltimore, MD to William Wallace Hutchison and Mary Lou Johnson. A man of laughter, loyalty, and tremendous work ethic, he found his wings, leaving an irreplaceable voice in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Devoted Husband to Phyllis, cherished father of Roy Jr., Rachaele, Christopher, Rebecca, Matthew, and Timothy, beloved brother to Terry, Trudy, and Mark, adored Grandfather to 13 and Great-Grandfather. Roy's greatest pride and joy was his family. He leaves behind a lineage filled with love, laughter, and respect for the values he upheld.
Roy's love for his country was apparent in his service to three branches of the military - the Marine Corps, Army, and Air National Guard. A man of adventure and curiosity, he said he served in all three "to see what they were like". After his military years, he worked as a heavy equipment operator at Fort Mead, MD, and at Potts and Callahan in Baltimore. His dedication, integrity, and strong work ethic were always at the heart of everything he did.
As a man of many interests, Roy was an aficionado of Western movies, a passionate fan of the Orioles, and a super-fan of all things Halloween. He transformed his love for the spooky holiday into an unforgettable experience for neighborhood children, crafting elaborate and intricate Halloween works of art that became local legend. His children remember fondly being excited to join the spectacle, creating shared memories filled with fun and laughter.
A virtuoso of carpentry, art, and music, Roy played the acoustic and bass guitar, dabbling in the piano and singing. His talents were passed on to his children and grandchildren who will never forget the amazing memories had at family gatherings.
He often said, "If something's worth doing, it's worth doing right," a testament to his commitment to excellence and attention to detail, values that he imparted to those he leaves behind.
His warm sense of humor combined with his perseverance taught those around him the importance of facing life's challenges with a smile. These qualities profoundly impacted his loved ones and left an indelible mark on their hearts.
