Roy L. Humphreys, 86, of Boonville passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017, at the Veterans Home in Mexico, Mo.A celebration of life for Roy will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 5th, at the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church with Dr. Nick Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m.Roy Leland Humphreys was born on August 6, 1930, the son of Roy Andrew Humphreys and Martha Lucille Suggett Humphreys in Grand Pass, Mo. He served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. Roy was a farmer in Saline County for many years. He had a desire to complete his college education and graduated from Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo. after raising his family. He was interested in politics and became the Director of Weights and Measure for the Missouri Department of Agriculture and later office manager for the Cooper County Port Authority. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Marshall and in Boonville. Roy loved spending time with his family and he loved singing. He sang at many weddings and funerals in the area.Roy was preceded in death by his parents, brother in infancy, Donald Thomas Humphreys, and a sister, Minnie Berniece Leimkuehler. He is survived by his wife Betty, his two children, Mark (Carol) Humphreys of Sterling, Ill., Diana (James) McCartney of Marshall, Mo., and step-sons, Gary Lowe of Benton, Ark., and Greg Lowe of Tremble, Mo. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Grace (Justin) Durham of Slater, Mo., and Rachel and Lauren Humphreys of Sterling, Ill., and great-grandchildren, Melanie and Addison Durham.Memorial contribution are suggested to City Hall c/o Pam Paxton, Boonville Animal Shelter.
