Leroy J. Roy, 72, a life- time resident of Wagon Mound passed away on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012.He was born on Sept. 13, 1939 in Dawson, N.M. to Alexander Roy and Margarita Duran.He served in the U.S. Air force as a A1C E-4 from May 1960 to Jan. 1964.He owned and operated Leroy's Grocery Store in Wagon Mound with his wife Julia for 46 years. He retired as a Juvenile Corrections Officer after 18 years of employment with the State of New Mexico.He was a Catholic and a member of the Santa Clara Church in Wagon Mound.He was fond of fishing, hunting, camping and family get -togethers. He enjoyed watching Days of Our Lives and listening to the oldies. He was also a skilled carpenter, building much of his home and store him self. He was active with Wagon Mound Public Schools as a school board member, scorekeeper and bus driver for the Trojans also coaching little league and participating in other activities.He is preceded in death by his parents: Alexander Roy and Margarita Faulkner; maternal grandparents: Castulo and Adela Duran; paternal grandparents: Joseph Elfido Roy and Amelia; brothers: Carson Roy, Clark Roy and Ronnie Roy; sisters: Eileen Wade and Shirley Davis; mother and father in-law: Jose and Antonia Sanchez.He is survived by his wife of 47 years Julia S. Roy of the family home; children: Chris Roy (Cynthia) of Albuquerque, Lorne Roy (Janet) of Northglenn, Colo., Lorraine Montoya (Michael) of Raton, Lester Roy (Chanella) of Glendale, Ariz., Laverne Martinez (Jerry) of Hurley, N.M., Larkin Roy and partner Tim Ferraro of Trinidad, Colo. and Robin Roy-Nordstrom (Kevin) of Prescott, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one on the way; special niece and goddaughter: Stephanie Vallejos; special godson: Filbert Lopez; brothers: Clyde Roy of Brighton, Colo. and Reno Roy of Commerce City, Colo.; sister: Marlene Tomlinson of Santa Rosa, Calif.Rosary services will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6 at the Santa Clara Church in Wagon Mound with the funeral services immediately following the rosary with Father C. John Brasher serving as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Santa Clara Cemetery in Wagon Mound with the following serving as casket bearers: Filbert Lopez, Francisco Archuleta, Lawrence Sanchez, Charlie Archuleta, Freddy Muniz and Roman Montoya. Serving as honorary bearers are: Leroy Pino, Sammy Lopez, Sam Roy, Joe Duran and Alfred E.
