Roy was born on September 11, 1924 in Decatur, GA to Roy M. Brown Sr. and Lovenah Vinson Brown. Roy passed away on January 25, 2017, at the age of 92. He attended Decatur Boys High School where he excelled in basketball. His jersey #7 hangs in a place of honor at the school. Roy graduated from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC, where he lettered in tennis. He married Jean S. Brown on June 1, 1947. He served as a lieutenant in
WW2 and the
Korean War.Roy worked as a sales representative all of his life. In 1972, he began a partnership with his father-in-law, James M. Southard and his brother-in-law, James W. Southard, forming the family business, S.B.S. Associates. S.B.S has grown since then to include 4 generations of family members.Roy served the Lord Jesus faithfully his entire life. He is a charter member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Lilburn, GA, where he served as an elder and has loved & been loved by many cherished friends. As an avid tennis player, he participated in USTA and ALTA until the age of 85. In 1996, he fulfilled a lifetime dream by serving as a volunteer in the Atlanta Olympics. Roy started collecting stamps at age 8 and enjoyed his lifelong hobby. He was a member of the Button Gwinnett Stamp Club. Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Jean S. Brown. He is survived by his daughter Linda B. Gound, son Roy "Buddy" Brown, grandchildren Matthew Gound, Gloria Elaine Brown, Anna Gound, & great grandson, Mason Gound. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Lea Owen of Elizabethtown, KY, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, & grand nephews.There will be a private graveside service Saturday, January 28th at 10:00 a.m. Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Presbyterian; Church in Lilburn, GA.
