Roy A. SandsSOUTH ZANESVILLE: Roy A. Sands, 97, of South Zanesville, passed away at 5:00 p.m. Sun. Mar. 26, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on Dec. 3, 1919 in Roseville, a son of the late Fred and Myrtle (Rarick) Sands. He was a lifelong cabinet maker. He had been employed at Snider-Flautt Lumber and Combs Lumber prior to opening his own cabinet business. He loved fishing,hunting, and camping. He was a World War II
Army veteran, a 50 year member of Roseville American Legion, and a member of South Zanesville United Methodist Church.He is survived by his wife of 69 years Helen I. (Whitehead) Sands. One son Kendall (Cathy) Sands. One daughter Tami Sands. Four grandchildren Joshua (Sally) Murphy, Brian Sands, Kelly (Bryan) Wright, and Heather Allsup. Four great-grandchildren Deacon Boggs, Ethan Wright, Josie Wright, and Asher Wright. One sister Ann Etta Zinn.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Charles Sands, James Sands, and his twin brother Ray Sands. One sister Martha Lee Cannon. An infant son Roderick Roy Sands.Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Sat. Apr. 1, 2017 at WILLIAM THOMPSON & SON FUNERAL HOME 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sun. Apr. 2, 2017 with Rev. Dee Rader officiating.
