LAURINBURG — Mrs. Ruby Bennett Hatcher, 91, passed away on Aug. 25, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by the Rev. Larry Singletary and the Rev. Sarah Grooms. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
Ruby was born on March 17, 1924, a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Hicks Bennett. She was the loving wife to the late Simmie Hatcher, Sr. She retired from Abbott Laboratories after many years of service.
She was a faithful member for 60 years of the Huckabee Grove Emanuel Holiness Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years and enjoyed participating with the mission trips to Mexico. She enjoyed reading, needle point and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Billie Joyce Hatcher Emanuel and siblings Woodrow Bennett, Clyde Bennett, Claude Bennett, Lucy Jones, Rosa Mudd, Blanche Kelly, Elizabeth English, Rachel Smith, Cynthia O'Dell, and Ollie Mae Bennett.
Mrs. Hatcher is survived by her three sons: Simmie Hatcher, Jr. of Laurel Hill, Robert Hatcher, Sr. and wife Shirley of Bennettsville, South Carolina, and Jimmy Hatcher and wife Betty of Laurel Hill, sister Girtrude Trippett of Rockingham, 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
