Ruby Wells Earhart passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017, in Slidell, Louisiana, at the age of 96. She was born on Thursday, March 4, 1920, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana to Thomas and Corrine Wells. She was a resident of Pearl River, Louisiana. Ruby enjoyed life and loved LSU and the Saints, reading, dancing, jazz, and especially her family. Ruby graduated from LSU School of Nursing and served as an Army nurse during WWII following the troops through Europe. Afterwards she became a chief nurse of the VA with a career lasting more than 42 years. Ruby is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Price and her husband Elmo; her grandchildren, Dr. Amy Hammons and her husband Jay, Andrew Elmo Price, Corey Stewart and his wife Jaime, Joey Zaffuto, and Priscilla Zaffuto; her great-grandchildren, Jack Hammons, Aidan Hammons, Savannah Schaefer, and Mark Schaefer, and many nieces, nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Wells; mother, Corrine Wells; daughter, Sabrina Zaffuto; and 5 brothers and 5 sisters. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at Divine Mercy Parish, 4337 Sal Lentini Pkwy, Kenner, La 70065, on Friday, February 3, 2017 from 10:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Inurnment will be at 4:00 pm in Sand Hill Cemetery, Ponchatoula, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Divine Mercy Parish, 4337 Sal Lentini Pkwy, Kenner, La 70065 in Ruby's memory.
