On June 28, 2025, the world lost a bright light with the passing of Ruby Watkins of Los Angeles, California. Born on May 18, 1943, Ruby brought joy and laughter to all those around her.

Ruby was the beloved daughter of Harvey Lee Slack and Hattie Mae Elzy Slack. In 1963, she married the love of her life, Earl Watkins, and together they raised three wonderful children: James, Anthony, and Harvey.

After graduating from Franklin Parish High School in 1962, Ruby pursued a career as a Registered Nurse, where she touched countless lives with her compassion and care.

Aside from her work, Ruby found joy in helping others in need and spent her free time volunteering in her community. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and had a heart of gold.

Ruby will be dearly missed by her family and friends, including her husband Earl, children James, Anthony, and Harvey, their spouses, and her four cherished grandchildren.

Although Ruby's bright spirit may no longer be with us, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
