This obituary is administered by:
1966 ~ 2016Our beloved Rudy, age 50, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016 of cancer. He was born on January 19, 1966 in Englewood, Colorado to Mary Stella Jaramillo Schafer and Rudolfo Gilberto Montoya, Sr., the oldest of three children. He attended schools in Kearns, graduating from Kearns High School in 1984. He joined the Navy and served a nine-year tour. He was stationed in Spain for part of this tour. He was multi-talented; a whiz at math, had expertise in electronics and worked as an Engineering Planner, as a production control planner and Purchasing/Supply Chain Manager. Currently, at FLS, he was a buyer for their large rebuild projects and a strong member of that group working with international vendors. In his youth he played little league baseball, on the Angels, and according to his coach, Rudy was a natural born pitcher. He enjoyed watching his teams play sports: the Denver Broncos, the Los Angeles Angels, the Jazz, BYU Cougars, and the Salt Lake Bees. Rudy had such a bright light and lit up the room when he walked in. He had a great smile, gave the best hugs and was kind, caring and thoughtful. Rudy found the love of his life and soul mate in Heather. They were married and later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was the light of his life and they enjoyed six and a half wonderful years together. Rudy is survived by his wife Heather; mother Mary; stepfather Roben; parents-in-law Dennis & Janet Porteous; brother Jerry (Becky); sister Charlotte; children: Dan Michael, Aaramis, Mandee, Dmitri, Brandon, Alexis (Quinton); sister-in-law Patricia (Stacey), brother-in-law David, sister-in-law Sarah (Grant); brother-in-law Jeffrey (Shalinda); nieces Miranda and Alexis; nephew Paul; aunts and uncles; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles on Heather's side. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Eloy and Thelma; paternal grandparents Melquiades and Sylvia; father Rudolfo Gilberto Montoya Sr.; uncles Bob and Clyde; and his aunt Lucy. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 10, 2016, 1:00 p.m., at the Sunset Ridge 1st Ward, 8107 South 6700 West, West Jordan. Viewings will be held Wednesday, November 9th, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and again prior to services at the church from 12-12:45 p.m. Interment at Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
